FAQs

• Do I have to bring a cake?

  Not if you’re purchasing an individual ticket. If you book a Bring a Friend Bundle, we ask that at least one person in your pair brings a cake to share. You definitely don’t both need to bake.

• Can I bring a friend?

  Absolutely. You can each purchase an individual ticket, or book a Bring a Friend Bundle for two. If you choose the bundle, just remember that one cake between you is expected.

• I’m a Fearless Women mentor or mentee, do I need to buy a ticket?

  No. Current Fearless Women mentors and mentees can attend Cake O’Clock for free. Please select the dedicated mentor/mentee ticket when you register so we can include you in event numbers. If you’re bringing a guest who isn’t part of the mentoring program, they’ll still need their own paid ticket.

• Do I need to be a good baker?

  Definitely not. There is a category for everyone, including first-time bakers and cakes that did not quite go to plan.

• What should I bring if I’m entering a cake?

  Bring your cake and your completed ingredients list. We’ll provide plates, spoons and everything needed to share it around.

• What about allergies and dietary requirements?

  All cake entrants will be asked to provide a full ingredients list so guests can make informed decisions about what they eat. As cakes are prepared by different community members, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

• Can children come?

  Yes. Junior bakers aged 16 and under can even enter the Rising Whisks category. Children must remain under the supervision of their parent or responsible adult.

• Is there parking nearby?

  Yes. There is plenty of parking around Kingston Foreshore, including the car park beside Brodburger and another large car park next to the Saffire apartments, just across the bridge from Norgrove Park. There is also street parking throughout the Foreshore. Please check signage and any time limits when you park

• Can I get there by public transport?

  Yes. Kingston Foreshore is well connected by public transport. Rapid 2 and Rapid 6 both service the Kingston Foreshore area on Saturdays, with Route 56 also travelling through Kingston. We recommend checking the Transport Canberra Journey Planner before you leave for the best route from your location.

• Can I walk or cycle there?

  Absolutely. Norgrove Park connects directly into the Kingston Foreshore walking and cycling network, so it’s an easy option if you’re coming from Kingston, the Foreshore or nearby suburbs.

• What happens if the weather is bad?

  Cake O’Clock is being held outdoors at Norgrove Park. We’ll keep an eye on the forecast and contact ticket holders if the weather means we need to change our plans.

• Should I bring anything else?

  Cake O’Clock is a picnic, so please bring what you need to be comfortable for the afternoon. We recommend a picnic rug or chair, water, sun protection and clothing suited to the weather. Depending on the forecast, that might mean a hat and sunscreen or an extra layer and rain jacket.

  If you’re bringing a cake, don’t forget your cake and completed ingredients list. We also recommend bringing a container to take some leftover cake home afterwards.

  We’ll provide the plates, spoons and everything needed to share the cakes, plus outdoor games.

• Where does my ticket money go?

  Cake O’Clock is a Fearless Women fundraiser. Proceeds support our work with girls and young women in Canberra through mentoring, education and counselling.
