Campion Community Garden - Wicking Bed Workshop
Event description
Want to know how to grow a more productive garden using less water? The answer may be a wicking bed!
Located in Balcatta, Campion Community Garden is the only community garden within the City 100% dedicated to wicking beds.
Using 50 - 80% less water than traditional "in ground" growing and an optimum soil depth of only 30cm, wicking beds can be constructed from a variety of recycled and reclaimed materials and are perfect for any sized garden.
The workshop will guide participants through theory and design, including:
construction of a wicking bed
hands on building demonstration to give attendees a step-by-step "how to" guide that you can replicate at home.
This workshop is a Campion Community Garden initiative for City of Stirling Community Gardens Open Day where families can join in on some garden bed planting, finger-knitting and a community sundowner.
