Soil Dynamics! Get to know your soil
Event description
Have you ever invested a lot of time and money into your garden, only to see your plants fail? The problem might be your soil. No matter what plants you choose, if they’re in the wrong soil, they won’t thrive.
If this sounds familiar, join us for a free workshop on soil presented by Fiona from the City of Stirling. You'll learn:
what makes good soil
how to test your sample
testing for soil types
checking your soil pH to understand the impact of your plants health.
Volunteers will be needed to help Fiona demonstrate how to do a pH test and two ways to conduct a soil structure test. One of these will make your hands VERY dirty, so be ready to put your hand up!
Attendees will find out how to put all this information together with practical knowledge so they can take the next steps to improving their own soil.
This workshop is a Joondanna Community Food Garden initiative for City of Stirling Community Gardens Open Day where you can also enjoy a garden tour (10:15am), family magic show (11:00am) along with a sausage sizzle and plant stall.
