Canberra Day 2024 Balloon Spectacular (5km, easy)

Celebrate the Canberra Day public holiday at the Canberra Balloon Spectacular by watching dozens of balloons take off and float over Lake Burley Griffin (if conditions are perfect, otherwise the balloons are tethered).

We’ll meet at the Peace Bell, watch the balloons soar over the lake, and ride slowly toward Yarralumla on bike paths as these beautiful, colourful balloons drift away.
The surface is mostly flat, but there is a hill past the Southern Cross Yacht Club. Feel free to stop before this. We'll finish at the Yarralumla shops for coffee/tea etc.
This is for all types of people on all types of cycles 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🙌🏼. Wear whatever is comfortable, but expect it to be chilly at 06:30.

NOTE: I’ll check the Events Canberra social media accounts around 6:15am, because if the weather isn’t right for flying, the balloons may remain tethered at the site beside the National Library.
