Candy Chemistry - 3rd - 5th Grade
Event description
This event is made possible through the generosity of Hydrite.
This program is for current 3rd - 5th grade students. If you have attended a Candy Chemistry event before, please note that experiments will be the same as past events, but you are welcome to attend again!
MSOE professor Dr. Anne-Marie Nickel will be teaching a fun class on chemistry using candies of all kinds to explain topics such as sucrose, acids and bases. Professionals from Hydrite will be joining to help students complete their experiments.
With the event's proximity to Halloween, we welcome costumes at this event! Please note when planning attire that students will need to be able to sit in a chair and use their hands.
Allergen Note
Please note we use Snickers for one experiment which contains peanuts. Students are not required to ingest candies, but individuals with a peanut allergy that have concerns should reach out to MSOE to ensure we can provide a safe experience for your student.
Scholarships are available for any student that needs one - please contact stem@msoe.edu to receive more information.
