Conversations with Peacemeal: Everyday Peacebuilding Through Food

Peacemeal is a peacebuilding initiative centred on the elemental power of food in human connection — creating space for people to share stories over a meal, listen deeply across divides, and nourish hope through everyday acts of peacebuilding. Their book brings together over 40 global peacebuilders' culinary stories and recipes, each one an invitation to imagine peacebuilding as something we can practise every day, at our own tables.

In the next instalment of our webinar series, we're joined by two of those contributors — Helen Bishop and Essan Dileri — to hear the ideas and stories behind their work, facilitated by committee member Nandini Sen Mehra (Hindus for Human Rights).

At a time when conflict can feel overwhelming or impossible to act on, Peacemeal offers something different: a reminder that connection, dignity and hope can be built in small, everyday ways, starting with a shared meal.

Can food build peace? Join us for a conversation that's as nourishing as it is honest — a fitting way to open the season leading into our own Picnic for Peace, and the launch of our 'Food for Thought' kitchen-table style conversations in Sydney.

Join us Thursday, October 8th from 5pm AEDT.
