Why We’re Doing It
I started this journey at just seven years old, when I rescued my first dog, Athena—a four-year-old, abused German Shepherd with a permanently broken leg who had just had puppies on the street. She had every reason not to trust people, but I knew I had to help her.
With compassion, care, and structure, I was able to navigate her behavior and help her become an incredible dog. That experience shaped my entire life.
Since then, I’ve spent over 40 years training, rescuing, and supporting dogs in every setting imaginable. I’ve worked with rescues, supported shelters, and helped when and where I could. But no matter how much any one person does, the need is bigger than we can meet alone.
That’s why we created the Canines & Coffee: Rescue & Shelter Network—a recurring, in-person event at Maximum Canine, where rescues and shelters can come together to learn, collaborate, and build a stronger system of support.
This is a place to share ideas, apply training and fulfillment strategies, and create a platform to feature dogs in need—so more of them find homes, and stay in them.
It’s my way of coming full circle—using the knowledge, resources, and community we’ve built to return to why I started in the first place: helping dogs by supporting the people who care for them.
