    Event description

This chess tournament is for juniors (anyone born on or after 1/1/2004 i.e. under 20 before 1 January) and is an NZCF-rated 5 round Swiss, paired with the assistance of Vega. Chess clocks will be used with the time control being 60 minutes per player, per game, with a 30 second increment from move 1. In addition to the open section, the age groups will be run as separate sections, noting that the organisers reserve the right to combine age-adjacent sections with low numbers. Players may choose to play in the open section or the section for their age.

Highest-placed Canterbury junior will be the Canterbury Junior Champion for 2024. Titles will also be awarded in age groups (under 16, 14, 12 and 10 i.e. born on or after 1/1/2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 respectively) and to the highest-placed girl overall and in each age group.
