Canterbury Tech February 2025 - TechTuesdays - IRL*In Real Life
Event description
"A Mission Critical Opportunity" presented by Airways with Geoff Peck (Chief Information Officer), Jennifer Nepton (Manager - Air Traffic Services Development) Edan Cain (Solution Architect, Unmanned Operations)
Join us for the first TechTuesday of 2025 where we will be joined by Airways (the New Zealand Air Navigation Service Provider) as they discuss how they plan to provide services for the Urban Air Mobility (UAM)/drone community and enable opportunities for NZ software developers to utilise this system to create their own value.
Airways proposes to deploy a Flight Information Management System (FIMS), separate to but alongside the current Air Traffic Management (ATM) system - with its purpose to be the one-source-of-the-truth for all NZ aviation traffic, both for future UAM and the existing users.
Come along to find out more about the global approach to FIMS, New Zealand's history of writing our own mission critical ATM software (both domestic and international), development standards, the opportunities this approach will bring and how Airways is positioning this platform to enable minimal barrier to entry.
As with any project in development - feedback is sort and appreciated!
