Canterbury Tech July 2024 - TechTuesdays - IRL*In Real Life

Join us for our July monthly event with Rupert de Paula (Founder and Creative Director of nontoxic.studio) and Arthur Machado (Executive Producer at Resonate) as they present on "Weaponising Ai for the Creative Industries"

One of the most headline-grabbing, and contentious, applications for AI is with the creative industries. With programmes like ChatGPT, Sora and Midjourney primed to make sweeping changes to how we create media, it appears the creative industry is facing an epochal change.

How then, can creative agencies (and all adjunctive businesses) look to embrace AI into their workflows and product offerings, both at a Big Picture and practical level? Because in an industry that prides itself at zigging when others zag, surely it is up to us, the creatives, to weaponise AI — before someone else does.

    About Rupert:
Rupert is a creative director, brand strategist, and director with an impressive career spanning over 15 years at world-class agencies in Europe and APAC. Originally from the UK, his work has been recognised at prestigious global award shows, as well as local acclaim at Best and AGDA. He is the founder and creative director of nontoxic.studio, a full service creative studio changing brands' fortunes, for good. A renowned ideas evangelist, his ability to distil multi-layered concepts into insightful, accessible, and effective solutions continues to set him apart in the industry.

    About Arthur:
Arthur Machado is an experienced advertising film producer and avid AI explorer. With nearly 20 years of experience, he has produced top-tier commercials for major brands, holding key roles at AlmapBBDO and Paranoid Films in Brazil. In New Zealand, he is the Executive Producer at Resonate, where he leads the production of TVCs, web films, and documentaries. Intrigued by AI’s potential in the creative industry, Arthur has been experimenting with various ways this emerging technology can influence and disrupt a field that is both ever-changing and deeply rooted in traditional methods.
