Introducing Pinky Agnew – Key Note Presenter
Whether you’re an experienced celebrant wanting to refresh your practice, or new to celebrancy, this workshop will give you a new perspective. Pinky Agnew will help you create ceremonies with confidence, so you can bring suggestions and ideas to your clients, and be open to incorporating theirs. It’s not only about being creative with words – your own and other people’s. It’s also about being creative with other elements of our ceremonies, like ritual. Together we will do practical exercises in creative, thinking, creative writing – AND creative rite-ing.

"I am excited to be coming to New Plymouth to present this CANZ workshop.
After a career as a trade unionist and journalist, I gave it all up in my 30s for a life as a singing telegram girl. That was in 1990. The ukulele and sparkly tights are long-gone. In the ensuing years I have carved out a successful career as a writer, actor, MC, and speaker.
In 1996, everything changed when I became a celebrant.
Celebrancy is the work of my heart and my soul. Everything I have done, experienced and learned in my life has led me to being a celebrant. It has changed me too, for the better. Helping people create ceremonies at times of great joy, and of great sorrow has been a privilege.
Being a member of CANZ almost from the beginning of my celebrancy career has helped me in every way – building my professionalism, and bringing me into the company of like-minded kindred spirits.
Since becoming a celebrant I have published two collections of readings for ceremonies – Heartsongs and Lifesongs (Random House). They are both now out of print, and I am working on my next collections.
In 2004 I was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM).
In 2020 I became a Validated Member of the Celebrants’ Association of New Zealand (VCANZ)." - Pinky Agnew
