Capital Blues presents the Alex Trask Quartet
Event description
After presenting this set to an enthusiastic audience at the Wellington Jazz Festival last year, the quartet will again present the music of under sung piano hero Freddie Redd, this time with a fresh new line up. The group will play tunes from the iconic Freddie Redd albums The Connection and Shades of Redd, as well as a few Jackie McLean classics. Throughout the concert will be readings from the play The Connection by Jack Gelber, alongside the tunes from the original score by Redd. Bebop meets theatre, an auspicious combination not to be missed!
Joining local saxophonist Alex Trask are a powerhouse band featuring master pianist Duncan Haynes, sharp dressing bassist Wynton Newman, and stalwart drummer Mark Lockett.
