Capital Blues Presents: The Daniel White Trio

The Daniel White Trio might be the most elusive blues outfit in the capital. Led by guitarist and bandleader Daniel White, the trio features the quietly impressive rhythm team of Dwayne Diack and Greg Kubala. They keep such a low profile online that you could swear they’re part of a witness protection programme.

Daniel has been playing blues around Wellington for several years. He fronts a five‑piece band called The Resistors and also performs in a duo that shows off his warm tone and relaxed phrasing. The trio format brings out a different flavour in his playing. It’s spacious, groove‑driven and rooted in classic blues traditions.

With Diack and Kubala locking in behind him, the trio deliver sets that feel familiar in all the right ways. It’s the kind of blues that sneaks up on you, settles in and makes you wonder how you’ve missed them until now.

They’re not on Spotify. They’re not on Instagram. They barely exist on Google. But they do exist onstage, and that’s where they shine.
