Access to capital remains one of the most important factors in enabling businesses to grow, innovate and scale, but the path to securing it is rarely straightforward.

Throughout this session we’ll explore what the funding landscape currently looks like, the challenges many businesses encounter when raising capital, and some of the strategies that can help position organisations for successful investment.

We will be joined by Mark Bregman - Venture Capitalist, Philippa Weston -Pencarrow Private Equity and Greg Daniel- DataMasque, all who bring extensive experience across investment, capital markets and advising businesses through their personal journeys. They’ll share their perspectives on what investors are looking for, where opportunities exist, and how businesses can better navigate the capital-raising process.

  • Where can I park ?

    Grand Millennium Auckland has its own parking; the entrance is located just past the lobby drive entrance on Mayoral Drive. You can enter directly from the covered parking building.

    Charges are as follows:

    Guest Self-Park: $5.00 per hour until $25.00. $25.00 for 24-hours.

    Valet Parking: $60.00 per vehicle, per day.

    *Parking is open to public and subject to availability. Paying for Parking Vehicle owners can apply a debit or Credit Card to their vehicles license plate at the onsite kiosk, Online Kiosk or Mobile Parking App anytime when their vehicle is in the carpark building or on exit.     Mark Bregman

    Mark Bregman is Managing General Partner of Quidnet Ventures, a New Zealand deep tech venture capital fund investing at seed stage across agritech, aerospace, biotech, advanced materials, quantum technology, climate tech, and AI. With a PhD in Physics, Mark brings both scientific rigour and commercial acumen to his investment work. He has served as Chair of Rakon Limited (NZX-listed) and Chair of the Bay Area Science and Innovation Consortium (BASIC), and writes on economic policy and 21st century governance. Mark is a leading voice on the conditions needed to grow New Zealand's deep tech ecosystem and connect local founders with global capital.

  • Philippa Weston

    Philippa Weston

    Philippa is a Partner at Pencarrow and has over 20 years' experience in investment management, including strategic planning, corporate governance, operational and financial management. Prior to joining Pencarrow in 2012, Philippa was Head of Investments at Kiwibank and was previously AMP Capital Investors’ Chief Operating Officer. Philippa is a qualified lawyer, and holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration. Philippa is currently a director of Skin Institute, New Zealand Frost Fans and Red Shield and was previously a director of MMC and Essano.

  • Greg Daniel

    Greg Daniel

    Greg is the Chief Financial Officer at DataMasque. He has a demonstrated history of working in global information technology, retail and services industries. He is skilled in implementing new systems, change control, employee training and strategic planning. Greg loves surfing and spending time away in the Hauraki Gulf fishing and diving. His favourite place in the world is Great Barrier Island.

    Michael Shanahan

    Michael is a corporate and commercial lawyer specialising in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, investment funds, financial markets, and general corporate advisory. He has practiced in New Zealand and in London in leading national and international firms. Michael advises clients on a wide range of corporate transactions and strategic commercial matters, and is known for providing practical, commercially focused advice to help businesses navigate complex transactions and achieve their strategic objectives.
