Printmaking - Cardboard Intaglio Drypoint with Lorelei Medcalf
Event description
Intaglio Printmaking —Drypoint printing with cardboard plates
Participants will draw on a cardboard plate using traditional etching tools to make a variety of marks and textures, then ink up and print their plates on dampened cotton paper with an etching press.
Traditionally etchings are made with metal plates - instead we will use coated cardboard, recycled Tetrapaks, and no chemicals. This technique is a simple, but effective printmaking process, a perfect introduction to intaglio printmaking.
No experience necessary and all materials provided.
Your Tutor
Lorelei Medcalf is an artist, printmaker and teacher. Her prints are made from intricately etched copper plates, or the spontaneous, painterly marks of the monoprint.
Her daily walks on the Fleurieu coastline provide inspiration for her artworks; whether it’s the natural or man-made detritus washed up on the beach, or her encounters with humans
and animals.
