    Event description

This is a free, three-day intensive workshop presented by Arts North West, and delivered by the Creative Recovery Network for people working in, or supporting the arts, creative, and cultural industries and businesses across Glen Innes Severn Shire.

Creative community projects following disaster can be a powerful platform for people to express their grief, frustration and loss, as well as their compassion and connection.

Creative Recovery is a particular approach to supporting individuals and communities after a disaster. It involves introducing play, art and creativity as tools to work through feelings of grief, acknowledge pain, foster connection, and ultimately, to build stronger communities and richer, more meaningful lives.

Through this program participants will gain:

    • An understanding of the post disaster environment and how disaster affects communities

    • An understanding of the role of the Creative Recovery Facilitator in supporting community recovery

    • Overview of local disaster management plans and who is responsible for each phase within the local disaster management network

    • Introduction to ESCCARE – a project development model that supports safe, deep thinking engagement strategies for whole of community participation

    • Understanding and tools for self-care strategies when working with impacted communities

    • An ongoing community of practice to support reflection, problem solving and the strengthening of an effective collaborative workforce supported through Creative Recovery Network

    • A connected Creative Responders network across the local regions

    • Connection of local creatives into broader state and national sector development and opportunities through Creative Recovery Network

This workshop has been made possible by the Foundation of Rural and Regional Renewal.
