National Carers Week Sector Breakfast
Event description
National Carers Week, running from Sunday 12th to Saturday 18th October 2025, is a time to recognise, celebrate and raise awareness of the estimated 3 million Australians, including 320,000 West Australians, who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend with a disability, mental health challenge, long-term health condition, alcohol or substance dependence, or frailty due to age.
This year’s theme, “You are one, know one, or will be one,” highlights the universal nature of caring and the vital role carers play in our lives and communities.
Carers WA warmly invites you to join us, alongside sector colleagues, to celebrate National Carers Week and express our deep appreciation for the enormous contribution carers make to both our community and the national economy.
Our keynote speaker for the Sector Breakfast, Casey Beros, is one of Australia’s most inspiring health communicators and a highly respected health journalist. She is an award-winning producer, author, TV presenter, podcaster, and medical facilitator who masterfully blends storytelling and science to empower Australians to live healthier and happier lives.
Casey brings her personal experience as a carer, being part of Australia’s “sandwich carer generation,” where she simultaneously managed the care needs of her unwell father while raising her own children. Her mission to help Australians be present for their loved ones for as long as possible drives her unique approach to public health issues, combining practical advice with personal development insights.
In her dynamic presentation, Casey will draw from her latest book, Next Of Kin: What to Expect When You’re Expecting to Care for Someone You Love. The book is a heartfelt and practical guide to navigating the complexities of caring, blending 20 years of asking questions of Australia’s brightest minds with her personal journey as the primary carer for her beloved father, Jack.
This event is an opportunity to come together as a sector, celebrate the vital role of carers, and gain valuable insights into how we can better support them. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our event sponsors, Palliative Care WA and Chung Wah, for their generous support in making this event possible.
Join us for this inspiring and meaningful celebration of carers and their remarkable contributions.
