At Griefline, we understand the profound impact of loss and believe that no one should navigate their grief alone. Our Bereavement Support Groups provide much-needed connection and comfort for adults across Australia who are grieving the death of a loved one. However, with current funding, we are only able to offer a limited number of groups, leaving many on waitlists during their most vulnerable moments. The current challenge: We are currently funded to run 3 x 6-week support groups each year, accommodating up to 8 people per group. This means we can support just 24 individuals over a 12-month period, despite the increasing demand for these services. Unfortunately, this limitation results in long waitlists and delayed support for those who need immediate care. Our vision: To meet the growing need, we aim to increase the number and diversity of our support groups. In addition to general bereavement groups, we have identified a pressing need for themed groups that offer tailored support for specific experiences, such as: Carers’ bereavement groups: Supporting those who have lost loved ones after long-term caregiving. Pet bereavement groups: Offering solace to those grieving the death of a cherished animal companion. These are at the top of our wishlist, and we are committed to making them available as part of our expanded offering. How you can help: Your donation can make a tangible difference in reducing waitlist times and offering specialised care to those who need it most. For every $5,000 raised, we can run an additional 6-week support group, supporting 8 more people as they navigate their grief. With your help, we can: Increase the number of general bereavement groups to meet demand. Launch new, themed groups for carers and pet bereavement. Minimise waitlist times, ensuring individuals receive timely support. Offer more scheduling options to accommodate different needs, such as evening or weekend groups. Why your support matters: Our Bereavement Support Groups are more than just meetings—they are a lifeline for those grappling with loss. These groups provide a safe, nurturing environment where individuals can share their experiences, feel understood, and begin to heal. With your contribution, we can ensure that more people across Australia have access to the support they need, when they need it. Together, we can ensure that no one faces their grief alone. Make a donation today and help us expand Griefline’s Bereavement Support Groups, including those for carers and pet loss, so that we can reach more individuals and provide the compassionate care they deserve.
