Carly Sings Songs for the Hopeless
Event description
Join us at the bar that love built on Thursday, 29th February, for a unique musical journey with Carly Tennant.
Carly Tennant, also known as Buella Blue, has appeared in brissie bands over the years like the Iddy Biddy Big Time Polka Band, Fred Band, the Vagina Billies and accompanying a burlesque dancers or two. Her diy albulm 'Not Another Day' featured as the soundtrack for the internationally acclaimed documentary 'Amanda' 2013, a journey into the life of Amanda Monroe, drag performer and icon. Famously recluse, Carlys managed to appear at Woodford Folk Festival, Valley Fiestas and many local gigs over her 20 year career.
Her music is not for the faint of heart, it is not always easy listening, but it's worth it. Carlys classical and jazz background shape songs themed on life with complex mental health with her quirky sense of dark humour. Known for her original vaudevillian cabaret bangers and roaring songs of sorrow, it's an emotional experience that makes even the bar flies cry.
If the idea of existential blues takes your fancy, Carlys songs 'For the Hopeless' might be just your cup of tea. It's a black cabaret, a dark comedy, a love letter to anyone who feels hopelessly hopeless, ill or alone.
$15 on the door.
