Event description
Sunday 15th October, 10-12pm, Carmel College
The Family Pizza Garden Workshop will have you and your children growing the finest, tastiest pizza ingredients in no time.
Imagine, succulent basil, tasty tomatoes, crispy capsicums and gooey home grown cheese (well perhaps not growing cheese!!!) right from your own garden...
This fun class for Carmel staff and their families, will have your children growing a selection of pizza ingredients from seed using a pizza box as the seed raising tray to start them off.
Our workshop guide Linda Brennan is a horticulturist and eco educator who just loves seeing families succeed in growing their own food.
During the workshop we will explore how seeds germinate and grow and what they need to be healthy. We also explore the pizza toppings that are vegetable or animal in origin and decide which can be grown and which must be bought.
The workshop is suitable for children aged from 2years, but a parent is needed for each family for supervision of the finer things about pizza plant growing.
Linda will provide a range of seeds, pizza boxes, organic potting mix and an instruction sheet for care and planting out.
Children - bring a parent to help you create this growing masterpiece.
Each child is asked to bring: sunglasses, hat, garden gloves or latex gloves. Children may also like to bring an apron or wear garden appropriate clothing.
Each family is encouraged to bring something to share for morning tea.
This event is for Carmel College staff members and their children.
