Join Rachel from OOLAH STUDIO for a relaxing morning of hand block printing at Theia Studios (Woy Woy).

Immerse yourself in the process of hand block printing a set of greeting cards and an art print, using artist-quality pigment inks.

Taking inspiration from the beautiful repeating patterns found in Greek tiles, this 3-hour workshop will take you through the process of designing, carving, and printing your own repeating tile pattern.

Guided by Rachel, you’ll learn how to translate a simple idea into a carved block, exploring shape, colour and composition to create your own unique pattern design.

Enjoy a morning of creativity and exploration, and leave with your carved block, finished prints, and the skills to continue printing at home.

What you'll get

• All materials provided for use, including carving tools, blocks, artist-quality pigment inks and blank card/paper stock.

• Learn how to design, carve and hand print your own block.

• Create your own set of printed greeting cards and an A4 art print.

• Your carved printing block to take home and reuse.

• Small group workshop with hands-on guidance throughout.

• Light refreshments and nibbles provided.

Knowledge required

No experience necessary.

Adults of all ages and artistic abilities are welcome.

Please note: we will be using sharp tools, so a steady hand and a cautious approach is recommended.

What to bring

• Inspiration, sketches or reference images you’d like to work from — simple shapes and bold designs are recommended.

• Comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting messy.

• Enclosed shoes.
