Natural Rune Set Workshop

A rune is a letter in a set of related alphabets known as runic alphabets native to the Germanic peoples. Runes were used to write Germanic languages before they adopted the Latin alphabet, and for specialised purposes thereafter.  According to the Viking sagas, runic inscriptions held magical powers. With the aid of inscriptions, you could predict the future, protect a person against misfortune, imbue objects with different qualities, or you could write down conjurations and spells. Your birth rune is the caretaker of your destiny. Unlike your zodiac sign, birth runes are not meant to tell you your fate, or what month will bring you love or money. Rather, it is a specific set of energies that express themselves through your character and events in your life.

In this workshop, run by Celtic expert Marieke Treloar, participants will collect items to create their own rune set, then decorate symbols on the pieces. You will finish the workshop with your own set of runes and rune guide.

This workshop is best suited to adults and older children. Younger children must be accompanied by an adult helper.
