Event description

Have you ever wondered how paint was made by ancient civilisations?

We'll show you how to create organic based casein paint using household materials.

This is a half day workshop for beginners and is suitable for adults of all ages.

The session is hosted by Jason Kemmis who is a professional restorer and refinisher of antique furniture and heritage homes. Watch as Jason demonstrates the step by step techniques before crafting your own batch and trialling its application!

We'll then compare this paint to modern equivalents that are currently used to paint furniture and building interiors.

Aside from enjoying the creative session on the day, you'll have learned the skills and knowledge necessary for creating home made casein paint! You'll be able to replicate the process at home and applying these finishes to furniture, artworks and decorative architectural features.

Our workshops are held in and around The Old South Arm School built in 1880!
