Catching a Whiff

Come and join the Mapleton Public House and artist Lowana Davies at Falls Farm for Catching a Whiff – a guided walking tour inviting you to follow your nose through the smells of Falls Farm.

This new work, created through a site-specific residency, is an amalgamation of science, sound, performance, and olfaction – where artist Lowana Davies will guide you through a suite of sensory surprises and delights, engaging with soils, orchards, gardens and in-conversations.

Including an auditory component, composer Tom Lyons and Lowana will explore the relationship between the olfactory and auditory qualities of the site. Their compositions will respond to a series of creative questions: What elements onsite hold both an olfactory and auditory resonance? What smells and sounds are disappearing? Informed by the Falls Farm site, the artists will connect the world of smell with the universe of sound.

The work seeks to inspire a deep connection to the environment through scent, aimed to deepen the embodied relationships we can have with our surroundings. It also looks at how creative practice can help us become more aware of the sensory impacts of the current climate crisis.

Catching a Whiff will be followed by the Supperclub Mapleton Dining Experience – a truly down-to-earth collaboration between exceptional chefs, dedicated regenerative farmers, and an artist hosted on the veranda tables, overlooking rolling countryside, at Mapleton Public House.

10am or 12pm: Catching a Whiff — a guided walking tour inviting you to follow your nose through the smells of Falls Farm (Free, bookings required).

2:00pm - 5:30pm: Mapleton Supper Club feat. Gabriella Cohen ($110 — includes supper, sweets, welcome drink, and a post-supper performance by Gabriella Cohen)
