Catrinas costume competition

La Embajada de México en Australia se complace en extender una cordial invitación a todos ustedes para celebrar la tradición del Día de Muertos. Estaremos llevando a cabo un evento especial que incluirá la creación de un altar y ofrenda, así como un emocionante concurso de Catrinas y Catrines.

Para participar en el concurso, los interesados deberán inspirarse en el icónico personaje de La Catrina, creado por el renombrado autor José Guadalupe Posada, y recrearlo a su propio estilo y visión.

Aquí te compartimos algunos detalles importantes:

1. Participación Abierta: El concurso está abierto a todos, sin importar su nacionalidad. Queremos que amigos de México y amantes de la cultura mexicana se unan a esta celebración especial.
2. Fecha y Lugar: La cita será el jueves 2 de noviembre y se llevará a cabo en la Embajada de México en Canberra, Australia.
3. Jurado y Criterios de Evaluación: Un jurado evaluará a los participantes en función de su creatividad, diseño del vestuario y caracterización del personaje, incluyendo maquillaje y accesorios.

Premios emocionantes:

• Primer Lugar: Un elegante rebozo artesanal mexicano y una botella de mezcal.
• Segundo Lugar: Una moneda de plata y una botella de tequila.
• Tercer Lugar: Una hermosa muñeca Lele y una botella de tequila.

The Embassy of Mexico in Australia is pleased to extend a warm invitation to all of you to celebrate the tradition of Day of the Dead. We will be hosting a special event that will include the creation of an altar and an offering, as well as an exciting Catrinas and Catrines contest.

To participate in the contest, interested individuals should draw inspiration from the iconic character La Catrina, created by the renowned author José Guadalupe Posada, and recreate it in their own style and vision.

Open Participation: The contest is open to everyone, regardless of their nationality. We welcome friends of Mexico and lovers of Mexican culture to join in this special celebration.

Date and Location: The event will take place on Thursday, November 2nd, at the Embassy of Mexico in Canberra, Australia.

Judges and Evaluation Criteria: A distinguished panel of judges will evaluate participants based on their creativity, costume design, and characterization of the character, including makeup and accessories.

Exciting Prizes:

First Place: A handmade Mexican shawl (rebozo) and a bottle of mezcal. Second Place: A silver coin and a bottle of tequila. Third Place: A beautiful Lele doll and a bottle of tequila.
