Event description

NOTE: This Jam will start at 2pm due to the HGC markets being held in the morning.

Cadillac Shuffle hosts CBS June Blues Jam.

After returning from the U.K. Phil was asked about getting a band together to host the CBS June Blues Jam so we decided to put together a version of “Cadillac Shuffle” and give you a sample of some new and old favourites from his music catalog. We are looking forward to 19th June and hope to see you there.

Cadillac Shuffle Featuring: Phil Coleman - Vocals and Rhythm Guitar / John Van Buuren - Lead Guitar

John Coates- Bass Guitar / Dave McRae - Drums

Phil started playing in pubs around The Rocks, Sydney with his brothers at the age of 17. He has worked in different lineups over the years, performing solo, in duos and in several blues bands. A highlight over these years was performing in “Blind Freddy” with Peter Gelling, Brian Taylor and Tim Spellman when they supported Canned Heat and Albert King at the Canberra Theatre.

John Van Buuren has worked in Canberra bands such as the Cherrypickers, Monica Moore Trio, The LCB, Top Shelf, The Armadillos, Blazing Boots, The Healers, Mama's Blues House, and Nude Antz. He has played at most of the blues festivals in Australia fronting his own bands Long John, The 708s and Laughing Charlie, playing a range of original and updated blues tunes.

John Coates has been the foundation of many well known Canberra bands such as the Cherrypickers, the Armadillos, The Healers, The Wailing Cockatoos, and Long John.

Dave McRae was born once. He doesn’t remember too much about it except for someone saying “Sorry Mrs McRae. I dropped the baby”. Later he realized hitting things with sticks was kind of acceptable behaviour. His first drum kit was a bribe to get him back into school. It didn’t work. He has played in a number of bands around town and even a stint in a house band at the snow. He still enjoys drumming but doesn’t like how heavy these things are. The trap cases! Don’t talk to him about trap cases. He won’t stop whinging! He is looking forward to the Cadillac Shuffle host gig, as his whole life has been leading up to it. He is a Virgo and his favourite colour is green. He doesn’t like small things that move.

The host band will be followed by some of the finest musicians in the Canberra region jamming together for a great afternoon of live Blues music.
