    Event description

The Cyril B Bunter Band hosts CBS Xmas Party Blues Jam.

Between 1972 and 1985, The Bunters toured Australia ceaselessly, earning a reputation for good-time, soul-satisfying blues-infused boogie. They built a fanatical cult following, eventually spreading their wings to the national touring circuit, playing six-nights-a-week year in and year out, and racked up seven major nationwide tours opening shows for the Godfather of British Blues, John Mayall and U.S. Blues legends Canned Heat. The band also became fast friends with George Thorogood during three tours together, culminating in George recording The Bunters’ song “Boogie People” as the title track off his 1985 album.

The Bunters disbanded in 1985 to pursue their individual careers on the Oz Blues & Roots circuit in bands including The Foreday Riders, Ray Beadle’s Vipers, James T and The Last Volunteers, Swamphouse and The King Bees.

Then in 2013, The Bunters were invited to reunite for the Thredbo Blues Festival. Audience responses were so overwhelmingly positive that the band consisting of 3 founding members - Gary Lothian, Jimmy Bee and Rosscoe Clark, plus the great Ali Penney on keys, continue to tour; their house-rocking, real good Boogie live shows being described by those in the know as “even better than the first time around”!

The host band will be followed by some of the finest musicians in the Canberra region jamming together for a fabulous afternoon of live blues music.
