Build your confidence using technology while staying safe online.
In this IT workshop series for seniors, you'll get hands-on support for using smartphones, tablets, and essential apps, along with guidance on avoiding scams.
You will need to bring your own smartphone or laptop.
Session 1 – 10 March
- Outsmart your Smartphone – How it works, what things mean what else can it do?
- What is Wi-fi/Bluetooth/5G and how does it work.
- What are apps, what do they do, how to use them.
- Messaging and accessibility tools. • Q & A (30 mins)
Session 2 – 17 March
- Staying safe online and on your phone
- How to tell it’s a scam.
- Safe practices to always practice.
- What do I do if I’m not sure.
- Q & A (30 mins)
Session 3 – 24 March
- Have fun with your phone
- Now I know how it works, what else can it do?
- A fun session faceswapping, playing wordle, jib jab etc. Taking photos, adding text and stickers. Impress the grandkids!
- Q & A (30 mins)
Session 4 – 31 March
- Surviving Social Media
- Basic explanation of social media platforms.
- Lively discussion on it’s pros and cons.
- How to make your Facebook safe and private – control who sees your content
