2D Animation

Please ensure you have Photoshop downloaded and ready to go.

This Intro to 2D Animation workshop introduces the fundamentals of how movement works, with a focus on bounce and stretch — key principle used to create weight, energy, and believable motion.

You’ll learn how timing, spacing, and squash and stretch bring simple shapes to life through hands-on exercises and guided demonstrations. Starting with bouncing objects, you’ll explore how even basic forms can communicate impact and personality, building a strong foundation for more complex animation.

The workshop focuses on core animation thinking rather than software complexity, making it ideal for beginners. By the end of the session, you’ll have completed short animated exercises and gained a clear understanding of bounce and stretch, giving you the confidence to continue developing your 2D animation skills.
