Céilí Dance with The Great Beag Céilí Band
Event description
Spring is here, and it brings warmth, sun, flowers, blossoms, sudden freezing downpours, and outbursts of céilí dancing.
Come and join The Great Beag Céilí Band at St Michael’s Hall in Kelburn, where we’ll be either celebrating the season or escaping the elements with an evening of rousing social dancing to the band’s foot-stomping celtic tunes.
Got more than your fair share of left feet? No worries! There are no fancy moves and you don’t need any previous experience. We have a caller to tell everyone what to do, and we walk each dance through before adding the music. This is social dancing so bring all your friends, and there’s no need to bring a specific partner - there’ll be lots of friendly people to dance with.
Some tickets may be available on the door: $30 / $20 unwaged (cash only). Keep an eye on the Facebook event for updates.
Doors open 7:30pm
Adults and age 10+ welcome. Under 16s accompanied by an adult.
Light refreshments will be available. We recommend bringing a water bottle to grab a quick drink between dances - hydration is key!
This is an alcohol-free event.
Getting here: St Michael’s Hall is located at 81 Upland Road in Kelburn Village, just behind the church.
There is very limited on-street parking in the village. We recommend public transport: the 4, 18, 21, and 22 buses stop right outside coming up from Te Aro or down from Northland and Karori.
Health notice: Céilí dancing is a great way to meet lots of people. If you are feeling unwell then please stay home this time and we will see you at the next one.
