Celebrate International Albinism Awareness Day 2024 at VisAbility
Event description
Join us for a free celebration to mark International Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD). Organised by VisAbility client and Albinism advocate, Karin Boulton, and VisAbility, this is an open invitation for people of all ages who have Albinism, their families, and friends who live near Perth.
2024 marks a decade since the launch of International Albinism Awareness Day! To mark this occasion, this year’s theme is “10 years of IAAD: A decade of collective progress”.
This theme invites us to:
- Celebrate the strides made within the movement, with renewed commitment for the future;
- Highlight the tireless efforts of albinism groups from around the world;
- Reflect on the continued legal, policy and practical changes still required to ensure the full and equal enjoyment of rights by persons with albinism
This is a great opportunity to meet others who have albinism in an informal, fun setting. Snacks will be available so please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
IAAD aims to challenge people’s views of Albinism and mark the achievements of people with Albinism. IAAD is on 13 June, but we are holding our event the weekend after on Saturday 15 June.
Date: Saturday 15 June
Time: 10:30am to 1pm
Where: VisAbility CAYS Playground
What to bring: a plate of food to share
Cost: Free but feel free to give a gold coin donation for the Albinism Fellowship of Australia
