Celebrating Amy Sherwin’s Home Landscape
Event description
Join us in celebrating Amy Sherwin, the first Tasmanian to achieve international success in the arts.
Known as 'The Tasmanian Nightingale', Amy performed and stayed at Hadley’s in 1887.
Surrounded by landscape art in the Hadley's Art Prize gallery, hear about her childhood in the bush and how the landscape of her youth stayed with her as she toured the world.
This inspiring event features:
- a cup of tea/coffee and a special sweet treat made in honour of Amy Sherwin
- an introduction by Bob Brown
- a story read by Jane Longhurst
- a private tour of the Hadley’s Art Prize exhibition with Curator Amy Jackett
- an auction of artworks by Janine Combes and Melissa Kenihan
By purchasing a ticket to this event, you will be supporting the Amy Sherwin fund in their quest to immortalise Amy Sherwin through the creation of a full length marble statue, which will one day grace a prominent place our small city, where she was so enthusiastically celebrated in her lifetime.
