CELEBRATING BORDER DISTRICT RAILWAY ACHIEVEMENTS, 1873 AND 1883

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Why did people celebrate the arrival of the railway at Wodonga in 1873 with much gusto?

Why were the celebrations to mark the connection of the two state railway systems in 1883 even grander?

What did people anticipate would be the impact of such railway developments on their lives, on the district and on the Australian colonies?

Albury & District Historical Society invites everybody to a Q&A preview of three short documentary films specially prepared to commemorate the 150th and 140th anniversaries of these momentous railway events.

The films have been produced by Jacqui Schulz, an award-winning filmmaker, and Bruce Pennay, a historian from Charles Sturt University.
