Did you miss going to Symphony in the Flint Hills this summer?

Let's gather at Volland and celebrate Symphony in the Flint Hills' legacy!

IMPORTANT: TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT. HOWEVER ...

PLEASE JOIN THE WAITLIST. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED IF TICKETS BECOME AVAILABLE.

Because of unpredictable weather patterns, we are limiting the number of tickets to 80, in order to accommodate an indoor performance if necessary.

Begin the Celebration with A Tribute to the Art of Symphony in the Flint Hills Field Journals, curated by Matthew Regier, art editor of the Field Journal. These artists' work graced the pages of Symphony in the Flint Hills Field Journals throughout the years. Listen to the artists talk about their work (some of which was created specifically for this exhibition) at 6pm.

Enjoy Jonny V's BBQ (purchase your dinner when you reserve your tickets), beverages from MHK Caravan Co., and homemade ice cream from Flint Hills Pints.

Before you take your seats for the concert at 8pm, visit the M.T. Liggett Sculpture Park across Volland Road - or take a hike on the Nature Trail to view sculptures by Mark McHenry.

The evening will close with a memorable performance by the Cherokee Maidens, whose members are traveling from across the country to celebrate the occasion!

    Cherokee Maidens

One was a Dixie Chick. Two have appeared on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion. Two have sung at the Grand Ole Opry. And all three share Native American heritage - hence their name, inspired by Cindy Walker's 1941 country hit. Backed by Sycamore Swing, a troupe of crackerjack musicians that keep the classic genre authentic, they all share a passion for the past that sets them apart from the pack and unites them as a tribe.

FAQs

  • Are children allowed?

    Yes!

Because of limited space requirements (if the weather dictates that we move inside) all children must have a ticket.

  • What about parking?

There is plenty of free parking in the mowed pasture next to the gallery. The ground is uneven - wear sturdy shoes. Bring a flashlight or cell phone to light your way back to your car after dark.

  • What about the weather?

If it rains, the show will go on - in the gallery.

If the weather is unbearably hot, all activities will be held in the gallery.

Dress appropriately for all weather! See you there!

  • Do you have handicap-accessible accommodations?

Yes. There is a drop-off on Volland Road at the sloped sidewalk to the gallery, wide doors that offer access to the gallery, dispersed wheelchair seating, and a handicap accessible bathroom. There is a handicap parking area, with chauffeured side-by-side transportation to all locations on the site.

  • If I need special accommodations, who do I call?

Please email us at info@vollandfoundation.org., leave your phone number or email address, and we will contact you. We are happy to help!
