A Celebration of Kindness - Screenings and Talks from the Directors
Event description
Join us for "A Celebration of Kindness and Hope" in support of LocalKind Northern Beaches and AJAR (Asia Justice and Rights) with a showing of the award-winning documentary film by Anthony Heffernan "Brimming With Life"--a film of resilience, hope and kindness set in the townships of Cape Town and Soweto, South Africa. Kindness starts at a local level no matter if you are in a Myanmar/Thai refugee camp, a shanty in Soweto or homeless on the Northern Beaches, and it crosses borders and all obstacles.
A little more...
Join us for a powerful and inspiring evening featuring the screening of Brimming with Life, a full-length documentary by filmmaker Anthony Heffernan, set in the vibrant yet challenged communities of Cape Town and Soweto, South Africa. True to its title, the film captures the resilience, joy, and spirit of people brimming with life, even amidst adversity. This moving film offers both a heavy dose of reality and a hopeful perspective we believe will resonate deeply with all who attend.
🎬
We’re also honoured to be joined by Patrick Burgess, international human rights lawyer and co-founder of AJAR – Asia Justice and Rights. Patrick will share a short film on the Myanmar refugee crisis, offer a brief update on the ongoing situation, and—if we’re lucky—may even sing a song.
To round out the evening, we’ll screen a 5-minute short film on LocalKind, a Northern Beaches initiative, drawing a compelling thread between kindness in Myanmar, Soweto, and right here at home in the Northern Beaches.
This is more than a film night—it’s a celebration of kindness in its many forms. From global justice to local compassion, come and connect with stories that transcend borders and remind us of our shared humanity.
