Be up early to discover our curious residents with Platypus Whisperer, Neil Andison, on a nature walk along the Obi, followed by an immersive Nature Poetry Writing Workshop with award-winning poet Jane Frank, author of Gardening on Mars. Includes light refreshments.

8.00am - Meet at Obi House for a one-hour platypus discovery walk with Platypus Whisperer, Neil Andison.

Star Paths: Writing Nature and Place in Poetry

Are you inspired by the natural world? Translate the living textures of Maleny’s Obi Obi ecosystem into poetry in this immersive sensory workshop. You are invited to explore the unique hinterland landscape through verse, exploring how voice, imagery and form can deepen our relationship with local habitats, and how writing about nature and place helps explore both memory and self.

Jane Frank is a prize-winning Australian poet, editor and academic. Her latest poetry collection is Gardening on Mars (Shearsman Books 2025).  Two previous collections are with Calanthe Press. She publishes widely in journals and anthologies here and overseas, is Reviews Editor at StylusLit and lectures in the School of Business and Creative Industries at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
