Cenicienta: A Bilingual Cinderella Story

This one-time-only performance is the despedida (going-away party) and bon voyage for the debut of Mariah Fonseca as Belinda. From West Palm Beach, Florida to Kalamazoo, Michigan, this award-winning show will be touring the country in Spring 2024.

Ten-year-old Belinda loves to tell stories, but when she’s in the basement preparing for a party upstairs, she’ll have to get creative. Using everyday objects like teapots and napkins, Belinda recreates the classic tale of Cinderella. Glass Half Full Theatre from Austin, Texas, presents its award-winning “story within a story” using puppetry, Spanish, and English. As Belinda confronts her stepmother and stepsisters, she’ll learn to embrace her love of poetry and stand up for herself. This captivating Cinderella for all ages tackles cultural heritage, family, and the power of language. Most enjoyed by 5+

Cenicienta was originally created and presented at Zach Theatre in collaboration with Teatro Vivo and Glass Half Full Theatre. The role of Belinda was originated by Gricelda Silva.

A Belinda, una niña de diez años, le encanta contar historias, pero cuando se encuentra en el sótano preparando todo para una fiesta que se supone está organizando su madrastra en el piso de arriba, tendrá que ser creativa. Utilizando objetos cotidianos como teteras y servilletas, Belinda recrea el cuento clásico de Cenicienta. Glass Half Full Theatre de Austin, Texas, presenta su premiada “historia dentro de una historia” en español e inglés utilizando títeres y solamente una actriz. Mientras Belinda se enfrenta a su madrastra y a sus hermanastras, aprenderá a abrazar su amor por la poesía y a defenderse.
