Event description

Registrations are now open for the Central Australian Suicide Prevention Forum.

The forum will bring people together to share learnings and discuss how we can work towards reducing suicide in our communities.

The event will be held Tuesday 21 May and Wednesday 22 May 2024 at the Alice Springs Desert Park.

Registration is essential as there are limited places.

Day 1. Tuesday 21 May.

Morning: Panels and presentations on the themes of lived experience and supporting families.

Afternoon: Suicide prevention and mental health sector updates

Day 2. Wednesday 22 May

Full Day Workshop: Suicide Prevention Workshop through the Lens of Griefology by Rosemary Wanganeen

Please note:

Due to venue capacity the forum has limited numbers. People who attend both days of the forum will be given registration priority. If you can only attend one day you will go on a waiting list. If there are places left for either day by Friday 10 May, you will be notified of availability.

This is an in-person only event to provide a sense of safety to people attending the forum and to reduce technical disruptions.

The forum is free to attend. Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided on both days. A separate quiet space will also be provided as an area to relax or take a break from the forum.

MHACA will ensure that the Suicide Prevention Forum is a safe space to discuss the sensitive issue of suicide. Support staff will be available throughout the forum to provide support to attendees if required.

MHACA asks all people who attend the forum to be aware of the sensitive nature of suicide, and that a range of people with different backgrounds and experiences will be present. We ask you to speak safely about suicide, and be respectful to all presenters and attendees.

The forum is organised by the Mental Health Association, with the support of the Northern Territory Government, Central Australian Aboriginal Congress and headspace Alice Springs.
