Central Coast APS Winter Walk
Event description
A relaxed winter wander with AABR & Central Coast APS
Join AABR and members of the Central Coast Australian Plants Society NSW this June for a social bushwalk set against the scenic backdrop of Berowra Valley National Park.
We’ll be meeting at Crosslands Reserve in Hornsby Heights, meandering along the beautiful Crosslands Trail, taking time to enjoy each other's company, casually chat about the local vegetation, and do a bit of low-key plant ID and iNaturalist observations along the way.
Whether you're reconnecting with old friends or hoping to meet new like-minded nature enthusiasts and regenerators, this is a great opportunity to come along and enjoy a day out in the bush.
You’ll have the option to choose your own adventure on the day:
A gentle 1 km return stroll to the Berowra Creek viewing platform, OR
A slightly longer up to 4 km return walk to Calna Creek Bridge.
After the walk, stay for a picnic lunch—bring your own food, field guides, and any botanising or bird watching tools you fancy.
What to bring:
Picnic lunch, plenty of water, field guides (optional, a species list will be provided), sun protection, insect repellent, long pants and sleeves, sturdy enclosed shoes. There are toilets on site but limited phone reception, so plan ahead.
Extras:
Camping is permitted at the reserve for those who’d like to make a weekend of it (self-organised).
Kayakers welcome! Feel free to bring your kayak and enjoy the water before or after the walk (also self-organised).
We look forward to seeing you for a casual, connection-filled day in the bush!
