Guest speaker - Jane Avery
Jane is a local fashion designer and furrier. Her journey began in the 1990s as a television reporter covering South Island rabbit plagues, where she first saw the potential to turn a problem into a resource. After 25 years in journalism and two decades of self-taught tailoring, she transitioned her storytelling skills and creative eye into a new craft. Training under the last of New Zealand’s furriers, she inherited both their tools and their knowledge, transforming them into her own practice. Today, Jane channels her values of beauty, quality, and integrity into reimagining fur with purpose under her label Lapin.
