    Event description

VESSELS AND BUD VASES WITH EMMA SMALL

    When: Sunday November 3rd, 10am - 2.30pm (4.5 hrs)

    Price: $250 per person

What you’ll get: You will create and decorate several pinch pots and vases during the workshop. You will enjoy a light lunch of an antipasto platter and bubbles and connect, chatter and play with clay, with an intimate group of people in the beautiful space of The Corner Store Gallery. It’s about filling your cup, escaping your everyday life, and enjoying the sensory experience of clay.

What you need to bring: An apron and curiosity about clay.

About the Workshop: You will learn a fundamental principle of working with clay. How to make a pinch pot. You will build on this technique to make small bowls and then vases. You will be shown step by step, in a supportive environment so you feel confident creating your pieces.

You will get to choose from several glazes to decorate your pieces.

All materials are provided, you get to just turn up and I do the rest. Every piece is individually dried, transported, fired in the kiln, then hand glazed, and fired in the kiln again.

You will be able to pick up your finished pieces from The Corner Store Gallery, 6 week later fully glazed and ready to use on you table, in your home or to gift to a loved one.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Due to the nature of these workshops we cannot refund your ticket if you cancel within 7 days of the event. The Corner Store Gallery reserves the right to cancel this workshop due to unforeseen circumstances or if minimum tickets sales are not met. In the event of teacher cancellation your payment will be fully refunded.

    ABOUT EMMA

I discovered my love for ceramics in high school, completing 3 unit ceramics for my major works during the HSC. These were exhibited in Art Express and selected for an overseas exhibition. I went on to use my creativity becoming an Occupational Therapist, problem solving in the disability industry and teaching adults how to provide care. I became burnt out after 25 years and sought refuge in art. I dabbled in drawing, and painting however ceramics drew me back in, once I could access a kiln in Dubbo.

I entered the Mini Series Art Prize with The Corner Store Gallery in 2023 and was selected as a finalist. I am a predominantly self-taught ceramicist and attend courses at National Art School Sydney to further develop my skills. People kept asking me whether I would offer opportunities for them to try out ceramics and here I am, running clay experiences and events. I also sell my pieces in several shops in NSW.
