Ceramic Wall Hanging - Large scale project
Event description
Join Elanie for a larger scale ceramic wall hanging project. This project will involve a lot pinching, rolling, stamping, texturing and making. Think Macrame wall hangings - but with clay! We will be creating individual pieces which after firing, can be assembled, strung and hung - creating a very unique and handmade wall creation! This workshop is limited to only 8 students due to the working space required
The workshop will include:
- Planning and visualising your ideal wall hanging
- A collection of strings, ropes, connectors, fauna/flora to incorporate into your art piece
- A rundown of how to work with clay.
- Approximately 3 hours dedicated to just make make make! This Larger scale work will require a lot more small pieces so we will be focused to create a large quantity of items
- 10kg of clay
- A tutor to help guide you for the 4 hours.
Please bring along:
An apron
A photo of the wall you are planning to hang it on
Consider the colour scheme of your room - we might have some time to put a bit of colour on
Any texture that is meaningful to you that we can imprint on the clay (Eg. if you are fond of nature, bring along multiple leaves/flowers/seeds of meaningful flora)
Picture above is intended to inspire your wall hanging creation - please do some research prior to your session to find out more and be inspired about the plethora of options with clay!
Please note:
Due to the nature of clay and high temperatures that we fire at, there will always be a risk that your item might warp, crack, explode or break during the firing process. Even us seasoned professionals open up the kiln every single time with great trepidation! This all forms part of the exciting journey of working with clay!
