Description

Join ceramic artist Emma Small for a relaxed evening of creativity, connection and clay as you create your own collection of handmade wind chimes and bells.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, Emma will guide participants through the process of creating pinch-pot bells, rolling decorative beads, and adding personalised surface details. Working in a supportive and welcoming environment, you'll experience the calming, meditative qualities of working with clay while creating something beautiful to take home.

What's Included

  • All clay and materials

  • A glass of bubbles and light antipasto platter

  • Beautifully styled tables and candlelit atmosphere

  • Two kiln firings

  • Professional glazing by Emma

  • Beads, twine and finishing materials supplied after firing

Please bring your own apron.

What You'll Create

Participants will make a collection of decorative bells and beads that can be assembled into wind chimes, wall hangings or ornaments. Pieces can also be designed with Christmas decorations or handmade gifts in mind.

After the Workshop

Emma will carefully dry, fire and glaze each piece before preparing them for collection. Once complete, participants will receive their fired bells, beads and twine so they can assemble their creations at home.

Please allow approximately 8 weeks for firing and finishing. Finished work will be available for collection from The Corner Store Gallery.

  • Anyone looking for a creative outlet

  • Those wanting to slow down and take some time for themselves

  • Individuals attending solo and hoping to meet like-minded people

About Emma

Emma's love of ceramics began in high school, where she completed Ceramics as part of her HSC major works. Her pieces were selected for both ArtExpress and an international student exhibition.

She later built a 25-year career as an Occupational Therapist, working across the disability sector and adult education. After experiencing burnout, Emma returned to creative practice and quickly rediscovered her passion for clay.

A finalist in The Corner Store Gallery's Mini Series Art Prize in 2023, Emma is largely self-taught and continues to develop her practice through courses at the National Art School in Sydney.

Today, she creates functional and sculptural ceramic works while running workshops, classes and retreats that encourage women to slow down, reconnect and experience the therapeutic benefits of working with clay. Her ceramics are stocked in a number of galleries and retail spaces throughout New South Wales.
