Ceramics Open Studio takes place Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. When you register, select your preferred day, and stay for as short or as long as you would like during the 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. time frame! The cost for Open Studio is $55 per nonmember per month, or $45 per member per month. Attendees may bring their own clay or purchase a 25-pound bag of clay from MassMu for $25. Any outside clay must be approved by the Ceramics Studio Manager. All Open Studio registrants must have taken a pottery class previously, whether at MassMu or another institution, and must complete a screening survey to show they are comfortable working independently because Open Studio is not led by an instructor. The MassMu LL kilns fire at 04/06 for bisque firing and 6 for glaze firing. Please note the Massillon Museum Ceramics Studio is an educational space operated by a nonprofit organization and therefore cannot accommodate production potters.

The Massillon Museum, a local art and history museum, has major collections of photography; costumes and textiles; china, glass and pottery; domestic appliances; and circus memorabilia. The Museum was first accredited in 1972 by the American Association of Museums (now the American Alliance of Museums) and has continued to be accredited by the AAM since that time. Our permanent collection contains over 40,000 items, mostly gifts from the community. The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way East in downtown Massillon. A visit to the Massillon Museum is always free.

The Museum is fully accessible and welcoming of all guests. Beyond accessible parking and automatic entrance and restroom doors, MassMu has standard and bariatric wheelchairs available for use onsite, elevator service to all public floors, and a sensory room for anyone needing a break in a quiet space upon request. Service animals are welcome as defined by the ADA. ASL interpretation is offered for many Museum programs and available upon request for tours and workshops.
