The Massillon Museum, a local art and history museum, has major collections of photography; costumes and textiles; china, glass and pottery; domestic appliances; and circus memorabilia. The Museum was first accredited in 1972 by the American Association of Museums (now the American Alliance of Museums) and has continued to be accredited by the AAM since that time. Our permanent collection contains over 40,000 items, mostly gifts from the community. The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way East in downtown Massillon. A visit to the Massillon Museum is always free.
The Museum is fully accessible and welcoming of all guests. Beyond accessible parking and automatic entrance and restroom doors, MassMu has standard and bariatric wheelchairs available for use onsite, elevator service to all public floors, and a sensory room for anyone needing a break in a quiet space upon request. Service animals are welcome as defined by the ADA. ASL interpretation is offered for many Museum programs and available upon request for tours and workshops.
