Event description

If you haven’t seen the Spooky Men’s Chorale, you’re in for a treat, a lot of laughs and the occasional shock.

On November 30th at the School of Arts Hall starting at 4pm you’ll get a chance to join in a Big Spooky Singing Thing - is it a workshop? Or a performance? It's definitely Spooky and a taste of the 2025 Cobargo Folk Festival.
The Spooky Men’s Chorale is a magnificent, many-headed beast which has single-handedly turned the world of men’s singing upside down. Bypassing well trodden avenues, they carve out new territories of mighty man sounds, exquisite tenderness, and charming stupidity to both celebrate masculinity and mock it.

Formed in New South Wales in 2001, the Spooks have become rock-solid festival and theatre favourites in Australia, UK and Europe, with seven albums and 900 gigs under their belts. No subject is too trivial or weighty for their attention, and such ability to find new musical rooms to explore contributes greatly to their astonishing fan loyalty.
The show evokes musical worlds far beyond that suggested by their unassuming, casually hatted, black-clad appearance. They are just a bunch of blokes, but where they take you will blow your mind. The Spooky Men are on a tour of the South Coast, fresh from a barnstorming, headlining tour of the UK.

Come and join the Big Spooky Singing Thing and hang with us afterwards at a folk Club supper ($5 at the door).
The Spookies will sing to you, they will sing amongst you, they will sing with you, you can listen
you can sing, you can knit
It's the next big thing. It's...
THE BIG SPOOKY SINGING THING
For the full Spooky experience make sure you book tickets for the 2025 Festival, (Feb 28-March 2) which will mark the fifth anniversary of the devastating bushfires that tore through our region. More information on performers and a special back-to-the-village fringe festival will be released soon.
