DIASPORIC TECHNO with Chaia + wngdu + Dula + ꩜ at the Aztlan Theater
Description
Samois is proud to present Diasporic Techno— a night of dance music from the Yiddishkeit, Iranian, and Palestinian diasporas; uplifting cross-cultural solidarity and radical futures in this moment of upheaval.
Join us on Friday, April 24th, 2026, at the iconic Aztlan Theater on Santa Fe for techno, house, and downtempo, woven into both archival and contemporary sounds from constellations of diaspora.
We'll also be offering refreshments, free political literature, BDS-friendly shabbos candles, as well as merch from DJs Against Apartheid, Sumud Collective, KlezKolorado, and, of course, a limited drop from The Aztlan Theater.
Special thanks to our friends at Caracol Productions, Libuse, KlezKolorado, Denver/Boulder Jewish Voice for Peace, and Spin Zone.
(If cost is a barrier, please reach out to asa_xox@proton.me.)
______________
Our goal is to celebrate artistry and center artists who are often unseen. We're cultivating a dancefloor rooted in cultural memory and musical undergrounds the world around— We hope you cut loose, say hi to someone new, and lean into fun and freedom.
We also know, as we dance, there are so many people— in occupied Palestine, in bombarded Iran, to name a few— that are anything but free. We ask you to remain thoughtful, & consider checking out some of our political grounding at tables throughout the venue.
We also ask that you remain thoughtful with each other. Racism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and aggressive behavior otherwise will not be tolerated. Our team is here to support you, to coordinate a helping hand, and to shut down any uncool conduct.
This music is rooted in rich traditions of resistance, joy, and experimentation— some, too, is merely rooted in ass-shaking. We're excited for you to join us in all of the above.
XOXO
-SAMOIS
