Get ready for four unforgettable days of live music at Macquarie University's annual Chalkline Music Festival!!

This student-run event will be celebrating the talent of our community here at MQ, giving our musicians a stage to share their passion, creativity, and amazing sound.

With diverse genres, unique performance spaces and our incredible lineup of musicians, this year's festival promises to be our biggest one yet!

Festival Overview:

Event #1 Evening Gig

When: Monday October 27, 5:30pm

Where: Drama Studio 187, 10 Hadenfeld Ave, Macquarie University

Duration: 75 minutes

Our Monday gig is perfect for those who are looking to unwind after a long day on campus. This event will feature soloists, duos and small groups. This venue can seat up to 100 people.

Event #2 Afternoon Studio Gig

When: Tuesday October 28, 1:00pm

Where: Recording Studio 2, 10 Hadenfeld Ave, Macquarie University

Duration: 50 minutes

Our Tuesday gig will be held in our recording studio. This intimate performance space can seat up to 30 people and it will feature instrumentalists, singer-songwriters and composers.

Event #3 Orchestra Evening

When: Wednesday October 29, 5:30pm

Where: Drama Studio 187, 10 Hadenfeld Ave, Macquarie University

Duration: 75 minutes

Our Wednesday gig will feature a performance from MQ's Orchestra as well as other instrumentalists. This gig will be able to seat 100 people.

Event #4 Amphitheatre Gig

When: Thursday October 30, 5:30pm

Where: Courtyard Amphitheatre, 10 Hadenfeld Avenue, Macquarie University

Duration: 90 minutes

Our Thursday gig that concludes our festival will be held in our amphitheatre. This event will include a barbecue so be sure to check it out! This outdoor space can seat 80 people max.

Additional Information

Seating:

  • Signs will be present to help guide visitors to our performance spaces.

  • On-site seating options will be available for most venues. Please note that seating availability will be subject to the size and capacity of the venue.

  • Guests are encouraged to bring a pillow or a foldable chair to our Amphitheatre gig.

Food & Beverages:

  • Food and beverages will be available some nights of the festival! Please keep in mind that food and drink offerings may differ depending on the venue and event-day demand.

Lighting & Art Installation:

  • WARNING: The use of flashing lights in our shows may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy.

  • Loud music will also be present so please be aware of any potential risks that may affect you.

Parking & Public Transport:

  • Public transport services to the University extend right across Sydney and there are over 4,500 parking spaces at Macquarie to accommodate staff, students and visitors.

  • Parking is operated under a Restricted Parking Area scheme and fees apply. Parking is free from 6pm. We recommend parking in the West 3 and West 4 lots. Visit the University website for additional information.

Ticketing

  • All tickets are for free and requires no transaction.

  • For safety reasons regarding venue capacity, there are limited tickets available.
