Event description

Wairarapa Film Festival proudly presents CHAOS & CREATIVITY: MASTERCLASS WITH ANNIE COLLINS

Join us for Chaos & Creativity, an in-depth masterclass with award‑winning editor Annie Collins — a true taonga of Aotearoa’s screen industry. Over her 50‑year career, Annie has shaped the rhythm and emotion of countless feature films, shorts, documentaries, and more. In this session, she’ll share the real‑world challenges of taking a project from rough cut to locked picture, and how to harness chaos as the engine of creativity.

Key Concepts:

  • Approach: Why embracing “creative chaos” is essential — and strategies to turn it into your ally.
  • Process: Navigating editorial danger zones (missing coverage, story shifts, deadlines) and cultivating strong relationships with directors and producers.
  • Magic: Spotting the moments when fresh ideas emerge — and transforming them into cinematic gold.

Who Should Attend:

This masterclass is crafted for:

  • Editors, Directors, and Producers who want to deepen their understanding of the editorial journey.
  • Filmmakers working in any form — short or feature, drama, documentary, or commercial.
  • All Skill Levels: From emerging storytellers to seasoned veterans seeking fresh insights.
