Chats for the Goals: Future Reefs
Description
Coral reefs may not survive this century. Climate change is driving their catastrophic loss right on our doorstep and within our lifetime. Just like us, corals rely on proper nutrition for their health and resilience. Dr. Jen Matthews explores the essential nutrients corals need to thrive and survive.
In this presentation, she will take you on a deep dive into coral nutrition, the factors that determine coral health and survival, and how we are harnessing nutritional insights to develop management strategies that safeguard our reefs and the vital services they provide for future generations.
About the Presenter: Dr Jen Matthews
Jen is a chemical ecologist and marine biochemist who investigates how biogenic chemicals shape interactions between organisms and their environments. Jen's research explores holobiont dynamics — the complex symbioses between hosts and their microbial partners — across both marine and terrestrial systems.
